No matter what your size, you will find that there are going to be ways to dress yourself up and look great, but what happens when you want to go for some fashion model glamor and you happen to be significantly larger than the women you see on the runway? If you are looking to make sure that you look your best, you’ll find that there are six essential tips for looking like a plus sized fashion model.
1. Bras that fit
There are an overwhelming number of women, regardless of size, who go through life wearing bras that do not fit, and because of this, their posture and the fit of their clothes will suffer. Take the time to go into a place that will fit you for a bra, and make sure that you get one that will give you both lift and support. After that, make sure that you match the bra with the outfit. An outft that looks sharp with one bra, might look dumpy and ill-fitting with another, so take some time to get the fit exactly right.
2. Figure out your shape
What features of yours really stand out? Do you have a killer neckline with fantastic cleavage, or do you have gorgeously curvy hips? What aspects of your body do you want to dress up? Too often, plus sized women are told that they need to conceal, when it’s just the opposite. You need to think about what you can do to play up these features. When you are showing off something that you like you’ll see that it gets reflected in your attitude.
3. Colors that you like
We are actually instinctively drawn to colors that look best on us, so if you like greens and blues or pinks and purples, go for it. You might be told to wear black because it is slimming or gray because it is more neutral, but too much of that and you are going to look drab as dust! If you feel a little nervous, try splashing some color on to an outfit in the form of a crochet wrap or scarf.
4. Shop by feel, not by size
First, keep in mind that almost all clothing companies will have a lot of difference in sizes. You can be a 14 in one line of clothing and an 18 in another! Remember that you should not rely on the numbers to tell you if something fits. Remember that the only thing that is going to tell you if it fits is your body; does it feel good and does it look good? Think about the fit before you think about the number.
5. Shoes
We all know that shoes protect our feet, but keep in mind that they also finish off an outfit. Make sure that your shoes are going to “balance” your outfit; for something light, like a sun dress, choose strappy sandals, while a business outfit will need something more solid and heavier.
6. Makeup
Makeup can help you achieve that real fashion model glamor; forget what anyone says about wearing it as invisibly as possible. Go for something dramatic, and have some fun with the colors like blue and green and lavender and even red!
